Can Lipstick Actually Care for Your Lips? Inside the Red Collection's 5-Bioactive Formula

Most red lipsticks ask you to choose: bold color or comfortable lips. Satin finishes in particular have a reputation for looking gorgeous while quietly drying lips out over the course of a day.

RittZi's new Red Collection Satin Lipstick is built around a different idea - that a lipstick's formula can be designed to support the lips it's coloring, not just sit on top of them. Here's what's actually in it, and why it's formulated that way.

The Five Bioactives and What They're Designed to Do

Sodium Hyaluronate (Multi-Molecular-Weight Complex)
This blend combines two oil-dispersed hyaluronic acid technologies, together carrying high-, low-, and ultra-low-molecular-weight HA fractions. Because hyaluronic acid is naturally water-soluble, it doesn't typically disperse into a wax-and-oil lipstick base; here, the HA is pre-dispersed into castor oil, which is what allows it to function in an anhydrous formula in the first place. The different molecule sizes are designed to work in a complementary way: the outer lipid layer may help form a light film that supports moisture retention, while the smaller HA fractions are intended to support surface-level hydration - together contributing to a smoother, plumper-looking lip.

Sepilift DPHP (Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline)
A plant-derived active associated with supporting the skin's natural collagen and elastin activity, included with the intention of supporting lip firmness and a smoother-looking lip contour with continued use over time.

Menthyl Nicotinate
An ingredient known for stimulating microcirculation, included to help contribute to a natural-looking plumping effect. Unlike traditional plumping lipsticks that rely on stronger irritants such as capsicum, cinnamon, or peppermint oils for an intense burning sensation, Menthyl Nicotinate is designed to produce a much gentler warming, tingling effect as it works.

Monoi de Tahiti Extract
A traditional Polynesian botanical extract, included for its antioxidant properties and its role in helping soften and soothe the lip surface.

Oat Kernel Oil
Included to help nourish and support the lip's natural moisture barrier, with the aim of helping lips feel soft rather than stripped by long-wearing color.

Why Combine Skincare Actives With Color Cosmetics?

Traditional matte and satin lipstick formulas often rely heavily on waxes and pigment-carrying agents that can leave lips feeling dry by the end of the day, especially with bold, high-pigment reds. The idea behind The Red Collection's formula is to offset that trade-off, pairing intense color payoff with ingredients that are more commonly found in lip treatments and serums, so that a full day of wear doesn't have to mean sacrificing comfort.

How to Use It

For the most precise application, use the included lip brush to line and fill the lips first, followed by the lipstick itself for a rich, satin finish.

The Bottom Line

The Red Collection is designed around the idea that a bold red lipstick and lip comfort don't have to be mutually exclusive. By formulating with bioactive ingredients like Sodium Hyaluronate and Menthyl Nicotinate alongside its pigments and other plant-based, clean ingredients, it's built to deliver a satin finish while aiming to support the comfort of the lips underneath.
